I love decorating cakes! Cookies Too!

I know, I know, it's been a month!  Can you believe I still don't have my taxes done?  My husband can't either.  Who know's I may be able to get it all done some day!  Well, I can dream can't I?

Any way, I've been busy.  So busy, I have to make another R2D2 cookie just to take a picture.  I ran out of time and brain space to realize I didn't even take a picture of them.  What a nut!  Nothing new here, just ask my family.

Here is a picture of the R2D2 cake made for Preston.  (The Red Ferrari was his cake last year.)  This year, he decided he loves Star Wars.  He also requested Yoda to make an appearance on his cake.  So, I made a 2 1/2" - 3" fondant Yoda.  Behind R2D2 is an outer space back ground.  It is made using foam core board and royal icing sprinkled with edible glitter, the letters are fondant attached with "gum" glue.

(As soon as I can, I will attach a picture of the cookie.)  There were 4 dozen R2D2 cookies made for the party to go with the "ginormous" cake!  I can honestly say, "They were yummy!"

Here is a Snickers Candy Bar for anyone with a sweet tooth!  This cake was for Brooklyn's 14th birthday.  Melanie said the cake was sooo yummy!  I sure hope so.

Instead of net wt. I thought net age would be fun.

The next cake is a giraffe the size of a 4 yr. old.  It was for Saber who turned 1!  Next to the big cake was the smash cake (6" round) with a replica of the giraffe on top.

Here is a picture of the cake board.  It was made to look like a hard wood floor.  That was the easiest part to make of the entire cake!

Pink with black zebra stripe works great for a Sweet 16.  It is a copy of Abree's welcome home and birthday cake.

I'm still busy as ever and I'll be back (Yes, I'm the Cake-a-Na-tor!)  See you soon!

(careful - tomorrow's April fools!)

Cake again! Of course!

I absolutely enjoyed making these two cakes. The tiara and the bow were firsts for me. They are both made of fondant and tylose to help them set up. Yes, I have made bows before, but not like this one! I've never had a real reason to. If I did one in the past, I certainly do not remember. (You know, old age?!?) I could be guilty and by all means feel free to tell me if I'm wrong.

This next week I'll be making a 3D Snickers Bar and the Giraffe again, plus a smash cake. If Becca is paying attention, I could use your help! (Hint, Hint!) Any one want to learn how to make these and want to come over, please drop me an email, I would be happy to show you! The more people who know how to decorate cakes, the better! There are a lot of people in this world and everyone of them have birthdays, eventually weddings, babies, plus the "showers" for these events too! WoW, That is a whole bunch of cake if you take the time to add it up.

I hope you enjoy these cakes as much as I enjoyed making them!

It's Been TOOOOO Long!

Here I am just sitting and wanting to know myself why I haven't stopped long enough to blog.  I really miss doing this.  It's my fun way of venting and sharing with other adults what I've been up to.  Don't get me wrong, 6th graders can be O.K., but they are not very good when it comes to adult interaction.  So, I leave them at school and wonder what I'll be keeping busy with next.  So far, I've been busy with taxes (who hasn't been?), baking, decorating and competing in the Austin "That Takes the Cake" Show.  I know it's hard to believe, but I actually put a cake on the table.  If that was all that happened, I would have so happy.  However, God saw fit that I should do better than that.  My cake took second in my division.  Yippee!  I can't believe I actually walked out with a medal!  I haven't gotten a medal or award since High School Track! (10th grade)

There is so much to say about the Austin Show.  I had the best time ever and met so many people!  People like Laura Kitchens-www.fancycakesbylauren.com, Mike McCarey-www.mikesamazingcakes.com/, Michelle Foster-www.thesugarfix.com, Earlene-www.earlenescakes.com (who happens to be "bookmarked" on my computer),  Ruth-www.ruthssweetejustice.com, and Janet Rosebeary-www.rosebearydesigns.com.  These people were absolutely amazing and the work they do is just as amazing as they are.  I hope you take some time to check out the many different works of art they have created.

The absolute best part of the the entire weekend was....
I got to hang out with my cake buddy - KiMater!  We laughed, ate, and snored (yes, we both snored!).

There were so many cakes to see and so much to do. From classes to shopping and watching demonstrations and mini challenges.  I was so busy talking I actually missed a great deal of the opportunities that were there.  I am looking forward to seeing many of the faces at the next Tulsa Sugar Art Show in October.  I already have my next design chosen for the Austin show.  I'm excited and can't wait.

For the past two weekends in a row, I've been in Texas!  I think I'll stick with good ole' Oklahoma this weekend!  I need a break!  (Yeah, right!)  No, I'm booked again this month except for the 15th through the 19th.  (WOW!  I just received a phone call and some one is eyeballing one of those dates! That was fast!)  However, you can still call to see if there happens to be any cancellations.  The last week of this month I will be working a wedding (brides and grooms cake) and I'm very excited about them.  Everything else is wedding showers and birthdays.  Yes, I'll be posting pictures!  Even of the past month-I do have a few.   Well, my 6th graders are about to get out of computer class and I'd better get myself back to the grind stone!  haha! (I'm too tired to grind my teeth! Not to mention any thing else! lol)

Completed!

This wonderful creation won 2nd Place in my division!  I am still in shock and not sure it really happened yet.

Here are some of the cakes, cup cakes and cake pops from February.

  Mod Monkey & Smash Cake

Meg's 1 & Hula Girl Smash Cake

Microbiologist anyone?

Valentines Cake Pops & Sugar Cookies
My niece Allie,  is 12!  Her mom, my sister Trish is an amazing party planner.  She only plans for family though!  We love it.  Pink & Green Zebra with cake pops, suckers, and cup cakes.  There were even fruit and veggie trays, but this isn't the "healthy" blog, it's a cake blog!  I am posting individual pics of the table.  (This is only one room out of 2 plus the entry way!)

A Lolly Pop Tree is so SWEET!!!!
Yes, these were yummy!  Chocolate cup cakes with vanilla butter cream and chocolate sprinkles!  Yummy!
Vanilla cup cakes with vanilla butter cream and pink sugar crystals.  Again!  Yummy!

I know there was so much more, but it's now getting very late and I'm to tired to continue!  Just remember, "Every party has a pooper and I'm the pooper of the party!" (from Father of the Bride!) lol!

Later!  I'll be seeing you around!

Cakes

                          It's A Toni Cake's 1st wedding cake ever!
                                                  2007

Here are pics of cakes I made before the blog.  There were no orders this week and only one for next week.  Please enjoy!

Made for my husband and father.  It's perfect for their silly personalities.  We called it Grumpy Old Men.

Again, my dad still has the top tier with the characters
Waldorf and Statler attached.

It may be hard to believe, but The Hills Are (still) Alive with Music!

Fraulein is singing her heart out for the birthday girl.

This was for my daughter's 9th.  We celebrated her
birthday at Sweet N Sassy.  They were made up like stars and walked the cat walk singing and dancing.  She had to have a cake to match the celebration.  It is 6 layers of cake and it was all eaten!

Chloe's whimsical birthday.

My pastor, Bro. Paul Blair loves golf.  I surprised him with his 45th birthday cake.

Yes, It's the Cake Lady!

Does any one feel so busy you don't know which day it is?  That's how it has seemed to me lately.  Obviously, since Christmas.  I've been to Louisiana, Texas and Florida and to top it all off, school just had to start up again.  Where did the time go?  I don't know.

I have done cakes, cup cakes and cake pops, and the all popular cookie.  Here are some of the cakes I've had the privilege to create and I hope you have good things to say about them! Just kidding!

Homer Simpson O.D.'s on a giant sprinkle do-nut and sodas.
Made for Malek, one of my 6th graders.  He found the perfect birthday cake, it's a show he loves to watch (He found a photo on-line, not sure where  I searched and found it on flickr.com under the food pornographer's blog).

It was red velvet with vanilla butter cream covered with Fondx fondant and jimmies.  Homer was made of fondant.

4 Men having a birthday, (you will notice many different themes).

What do you get when a doctor, a banker, and 2 major OU fans/hunters celebrate a birthday together?

A doctor with two left feet!

The story goes... doc was dancing like a wild man (obviously!) and fell right into the cake! Fortunately, they had served some cake before he Peter Panned off the stage!  Way to go doc!

Now, can you imagine the wives scooping up any cake that was good enough to eat (not touching the floor)?  Well that's what happened!  I don't blame them-I'd do it too!  I love cake!

I just hope everyone had a great time!

Happy Birthday guys!

The cake was dark chocolate and white cake filled and iced with cream cheese butter cream.  All the decorations were edible (except for the wires in coffee straws holding the oil spewing out of the oil derricks.

The OU and the Schooner (fondant w/tylose) were colored red with Gourmet Writers (food markers).

Notice the deer, "Mr. Cool".  He may have lost his antlers in the battle with the hunters, but he won the war! He tied the barrel of the rifle in a knot and removed the string from the bow.

Just below are a some different angles of the cake.

Our friend Bryson (one of the birthday boys) requested some calves on his cake and I was gearing up to make some cute baby cows.  His wife, Illena was kind enough to let me know he wanted "leg" calves not "cow" calves.

I hope he liked them!

Sailboat
This was for a 40th birthday for a man who loves his sailboat.

I was so proud of this cake.  I completed it before our Florida trip and delivered it to the restaurant.  Unfortunately, there was a problem.  I believe the walk in fridge the cake was put in was so humid the cake began to come apart at the sails.

Thanks to Rachael, my SIL, the cake was salvaged and it looked just as it had before.

Leslie said it was perfect for the party.

Groom's tractor, other wise known as Scott's tractor.  Not John Deer!  It had to be a Case!  Apparently these are rival brands and I had no idea it even existed, but I know now there is definitely a difference!
This particular tractor was yummy!  It was dark chocolate cake filled with chocolate butter cream and the field is outlined with Fondarific chocolate fondant.  This was a really big cake!  One of the heaviest I've ever had the pleasure of delivering!  Good thing I had been working out!

A pink and blue Zebra cake for a Sweet 16 party.  I met with Elyse and her mother and they were very easy clients.  They knew exactly what they wanted.

I love it when that happens!

Then again I do enjoy the challenge of designing a cake.  Which is what is coming up at the end of the month.

Here is a cake I almost had forgotten about.  I made this for my niece a couple of years ago.  She was a ballerina and had danced since she was 5.   Kathy, my sister requested some toe shoes and tadaa...there you see them.  Believe it or not, my she still has them wrapped in plastic and frozen.

That cracks me up!  People can be so funny!

It's time for me to say, "Good night!"  I need to get some rest for my 6th graders tomorrow, they can be a real handful!  Pray for me and have a blessed week!

Toni

Merry Christmas!

I pray you are all having the best Christmas ever!  I am.  I'm only missing my nephew Jeff, his wife Leah, my other nephew Jerid, his girlfriend Caitlin and Gene, my brother-in-law.  They are stuck at home in the snow.  Oklahoma is shut down for now, but we are still hoping they will get here soon.

I promise I have been so busy while I've not been blogging.  I am going to do a quick photo post and I'll get back as soon as possible for some details.  Also, not included are six cookie buckets, two dozen cookies, stacked books for college graduation and a tractor on a field.

Please take your time and leave a comment, good or bad.  It helps me improve on areas I do not see up close.

I am here!

Good morning everyone!  I have been so busy, not just  with cake, but life.  Grades/school, cakes, family, home, etc.  I am just letting you know I will post with some pictures this weekend.  I simply wanted you to be aware, I have not forgotten you!  Thank you so much for being patient.

I'm so excited, only 1 1/2 days left of school this year!  Yippee!

I'll be back in a couple of days.  I pray you have an amazing week!
