CAKE!!! It's everywhere!
Cake is everywhere! I even have been dreaming of it. I dream about being behind and making the wrong cake flavor and design and horrible things happening to them! O.K. definitely one of my dreams came true. Take a look at the cake it happened to. It was cute at the house, but then... No, I was so shocked by the time I arrived to fix it, I didn't take a picture. I simply focused on not crying because of the time I put into it. Cakes like this one will be a delivery with a fee-from now on. This is the only picture in existence!!!!
Well, so much for hard work! It doesn't always pay and this yellow critter proves it! I even stayed up all night!
I have so much to catch up on, I hope you understand. (School is out for us as of the 7th and I'm just now getting a chance to post.) Can you say Crazy Busy? If not, I just said it for both of us.
Here are some of the cakes I have accomplished along with some cookies and cake pops.
Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Butter Cream filling and Fondant
Here comes the Bride! and Groom.
I tried to make it a "Purple" Velvet, but the cocoa didn't allow it. Unfortunately, cake kept turning very ugly!
I have wanted to do a Damask design for so long and I was thrilled to do make it.
Grooms cake is Pineapple Chunk Cake iced and filled with Vanilla Butter Cream. The "Leather" tooling are panels of Fondx Fondant and horse shoe is Gum Paste dusted with many different colors of dusting powder. The statue is something the mother of the Groom added. Very nice touch.
Monkey Cake Pop Tree
How many monkeys have black noses? Can you find them?
In person they were more adorable with tan noses.
Basket Ball Anyone?
I should have made the front of the basket ball the other side. This is the back of a ball. I see my mistake now. Now that it is over. The base of the ball is Styrofoam and the top half is cake. This was an adventure. By the way, Stephanie. Thank you for sending your friend to me. I appreciate it!
I LOVE DISNEY!!!! IT'S THE HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH! (Well, it make me smile!)
"Sweet 16"
Has a whole new meaning...
I just loved this cake! My customer said her daughter takes a great deal of time to decide on most everything. However, when she saw this cake (from a recent movie-Because I said so(?). She knew right away, this was the one! Then to make it her own, she wanted the center tier to have "geometric" circles. I think of the 70's myself! I loved it when the cake was done! So did her mom. The board is covered with Satin Ice Fondant. This is going to sound odd, but I think it was Vanilla. How sad, I obviously need sleep!
The cupcakes were for her class at lunch and they loved them. She had friends she never knew she had! Here is where the sweet meaning comes in. She shared them with the students that came over from another lunch table. Most teens wouldn't do that today. That is so SWEET!
Baylor or Bust!
I didn't care for the first design, so I added about an 1/2 of strawberry to the original cake flavor of Marble. (Don't worry, I've been friends with this family since the graduate couldn't say his "R's" and his daddy called him "Stumpy" in public! I don't "add" on flavors with just any one.) So, I forgot to mention this to her and when I called her that evening, she said they noticed, the funny was... most people wanted strawberry. So, in a way it worked well for all of us. She even had extra servings! Yippeeee!
ARMY Tank (and dinosaurs?)
ELMO!
My hubby and I worked and worked on this cake and the previous cake. Before that I worked on the luggage and cookies and the 2 smash cakes that were added to the order. It happens. I finally turned my oven off after having it run for almost 2 weeks solid.
PLAY BALL!
This cake is made for a baseball fan. He turned only 70 last week. Every separate piece is cake, except the baseball. Don't worry, it could be eaten too, it's Rice Krispy Treats. I research vintage baseball and the only 2 things I didn't replicate very well, were the price on the popcorn bag and the bat. The original price of a bag of corn was 5 cents and the bat should have been very skinny. However, it's difficult to get the servings you need out of a skinny bat! These cakes are on a 20 x 30, 1/2" foam board. Very heavy. I'm going to add a close up of the base ball. It was my favorite!!!!!
See what I mean? Check out that stitching! Don't you just love it? O.K., enough of that!
A Bucket of Apples for the Teacher
I made these for the teachers who work at Edmond Christian Academy. Yes, I ate one too. It was rather tasty!
You know what they say, "An apple a day..."
There are a few cakes that I have not added. I didn't get a picture of them, because they went out so fast. Sorry. I may get a copy from the customer, then again, one never knows.
Final business before I go. During the month of June, I will only be accepting Cake PoP and Cookie orders. I apologize to anyone who is needing cake. I can not even refer you to my "back-up" baker, because I found out she too needs a cake break! I am already booking for July, through October, so if you anticipate needing or just wanting to order, you may want schedule and pay 25% of the order to hold your date. It is filling up quickly.
I pray you have a great week and a blessed night.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries
I hope you are having a great April! I'm staying busy with everything that goes on in life. Cake Too! I've done one or two since my last post and I thought I might share them with you.
The first cake was a Dark Chocolate Cake filled and covered with my Hershey's Chocolate Butter Cream (one of my faves!) with Dark Chocolate Fondue poured around the edge of the cake to give it a nice dark contrast. On top are ruby red strawberries dipped in Dark Chocolate Fondue Chocolate. The Happy Birthday sign is made with Fondarific Chocolate Fondant and Fondx Virgin White Fondant mixed with tylose. I wanted it to look like a dirty sign with splashes of "mud". Now looking at the sign, I should have made it darker - nothing I can do now. Besides, my faithful customer loved it anyway and that is what counts!
The second cake was Chocolate Butterflies and a Big Chocolate Bow on a pink & brown baby shower cake for twin girls. The new mommy and daddy are new to our area and the ladies at her church surprised her with a baby shower Saturday evening.
The babies names are beautiful! Personally, I loved their middle names so much I put them on the cake. Besides God has given these gifts to the parents two fold: Faith and Grace.
The cake was Dark Chocolate filled with Vanilla Butter Cream and was covered with Fondarific Chocolate Fondant and Fondx mixed with Americolor Gel - soft pink. The problem I had with this cake was the top border kept giving me fits! I was tired and just couldn't get it even. I think I tried it a good 5 times and finally went with what you see.
I guess it could be worse, however every happy little accident is an opportunity for learning. I should be the smartest person I know by now, but evidently I'm not!! (Not kidding! lol)
The following cake was a Whimsical/Topsy Cup Cake Cake with Cup Cake Cookies to go with it. The cakes were Vanilla Cake with Vanilla Butter Cream. All the accessories are made with Fondx Fondant and tylose. (even the birthday candles are made of fondant) It seems to me the accessories to any cake are one of my favorite things to do when working on a cake. It made me smile while I was working on them and I smile every time I see it now! Maybe it's my happy place! (Just kidding!)
I hope the next cake like this will go much easier! This one was an all nighter! The cake board was easier than I had expected and the bottom cake, the cake slice went so well. I just knew this was going to be a no brainer! Wrongo! Everything that could have gone wrong - did! The cakes didn't want to hold the shape no matter what was done to them and what you see is the final result.
Again, my customer was happy and her daughter Rylie who turned 3 loved it and that is what matters! (Wow! I feel like I've read that somewhere before!) Here are the cookies - they were a lot of fun to make too!
Please check back soon! I'm sure I'll have more to post! (PSST! I still haven't done my taxes! Pray for me!!!!!)
Let me know if you need anything or just want to say hi. I love hearing from you!
Have a great week and dream of sweet treats!

I love decorating cakes! Cookies Too!
I know, I know, it's been a month! Can you believe I still don't have my taxes done? My husband can't either. Who know's I may be able to get it all done some day! Well, I can dream can't I?
Any way, I've been busy. So busy, I have to make another R2D2 cookie just to take a picture. I ran out of time and brain space to realize I didn't even take a picture of them. What a nut! Nothing new here, just ask my family.
Here is a picture of the R2D2 cake made for Preston. (The Red Ferrari was his cake last year.) This year, he decided he loves Star Wars. He also requested Yoda to make an appearance on his cake. So, I made a 2 1/2" - 3" fondant Yoda. Behind R2D2 is an outer space back ground. It is made using foam core board and royal icing sprinkled with edible glitter, the letters are fondant attached with "gum" glue.
(As soon as I can, I will attach a picture of the cookie.) There were 4 dozen R2D2 cookies made for the party to go with the "ginormous" cake! I can honestly say, "They were yummy!"
Instead of net wt. I thought net age would be fun.
The next cake is a giraffe the size of a 4 yr. old. It was for Saber who turned 1! Next to the big cake was the smash cake (6" round) with a replica of the giraffe on top.
Here is a picture of the cake board. It was made to look like a hard wood floor. That was the easiest part to make of the entire cake!
Pink with black zebra stripe works great for a Sweet 16. It is a copy of Abree's welcome home and birthday cake.
I'm still busy as ever and I'll be back (Yes, I'm the Cake-a-Na-tor!) See you soon!
(careful - tomorrow's April fools!)

Here is a Snickers Candy Bar for anyone with a sweet tooth! This cake was for Brooklyn's 14th birthday. Melanie said the cake was sooo yummy! I sure hope so.

Cake again! Of course!
I absolutely enjoyed making these two cakes. The tiara and the bow were firsts for me. They are both made of fondant and tylose to help them set up. Yes, I have made bows before, but not like this one! I've never had a real reason to. If I did one in the past, I certainly do not remember. (You know, old age?!?) I could be guilty and by all means feel free to tell me if I'm wrong.
This next week I'll be making a 3D Snickers Bar and the Giraffe again, plus a smash cake. If Becca is paying attention, I could use your help! (Hint, Hint!) Any one want to learn how to make these and want to come over, please drop me an email, I would be happy to show you! The more people who know how to decorate cakes, the better! There are a lot of people in this world and everyone of them have birthdays, eventually weddings, babies, plus the "showers" for these events too! WoW, That is a whole bunch of cake if you take the time to add it up.
I hope you enjoy these cakes as much as I enjoyed making them!

It's Been TOOOOO Long!
Here I am just sitting and wanting to know myself why I haven't stopped long enough to blog. I really miss doing this. It's my fun way of venting and sharing with other adults what I've been up to. Don't get me wrong, 6th graders can be O.K., but they are not very good when it comes to adult interaction. So, I leave them at school and wonder what I'll be keeping busy with next. So far, I've been busy with taxes (who hasn't been?), baking, decorating and competing in the Austin "That Takes the Cake" Show. I know it's hard to believe, but I actually put a cake on the table. If that was all that happened, I would have so happy. However, God saw fit that I should do better than that. My cake took second in my division. Yippee! I can't believe I actually walked out with a medal! I haven't gotten a medal or award since High School Track! (10th grade)
There is so much to say about the Austin Show. I had the best time ever and met so many people! People like Laura Kitchens-www.fancycakesbylauren.com, Mike McCarey-www.mikesamazingcakes.com/, Michelle Foster-www.thesugarfix.com, Earlene-www.earlenescakes.com (who happens to be "bookmarked" on my computer), Ruth-www.ruthssweetejustice.com, and Janet Rosebeary-www.rosebearydesigns.com. These people were absolutely amazing and the work they do is just as amazing as they are. I hope you take some time to check out the many different works of art they have created.
The absolute best part of the the entire weekend was....
I got to hang out with my cake buddy - KiMater! We laughed, ate, and snored (yes, we both snored!).
There were so many cakes to see and so much to do. From classes to shopping and watching demonstrations and mini challenges. I was so busy talking I actually missed a great deal of the opportunities that were there. I am looking forward to seeing many of the faces at the next Tulsa Sugar Art Show in October. I already have my next design chosen for the Austin show. I'm excited and can't wait.
For the past two weekends in a row, I've been in Texas! I think I'll stick with good ole' Oklahoma this weekend! I need a break! (Yeah, right!) No, I'm booked again this month except for the 15th through the 19th. (WOW! I just received a phone call and some one is eyeballing one of those dates! That was fast!) However, you can still call to see if there happens to be any cancellations. The last week of this month I will be working a wedding (brides and grooms cake) and I'm very excited about them. Everything else is wedding showers and birthdays. Yes, I'll be posting pictures! Even of the past month-I do have a few. Well, my 6th graders are about to get out of computer class and I'd better get myself back to the grind stone! haha! (I'm too tired to grind my teeth! Not to mention any thing else! lol)
Photos of Mater In Progress (Show Cake):
This wonderful creation won 2nd Place in my division! I am still in shock and not sure it really happened yet.
Here are some of the cakes, cup cakes and cake pops from February.
Mod Monkey & Smash Cake
Meg's 1 & Hula Girl Smash Cake
Microbiologist anyone?
Valentines Cake Pops & Sugar Cookies
My niece Allie, is 12! Her mom, my sister Trish is an amazing party planner. She only plans for family though! We love it. Pink & Green Zebra with cake pops, suckers, and cup cakes. There were even fruit and veggie trays, but this isn't the "healthy" blog, it's a cake blog! I am posting individual pics of the table. (This is only one room out of 2 plus the entry way!)
A Lolly Pop Tree is so SWEET!!!!
Yes, these were yummy! Chocolate cup cakes with vanilla butter cream and chocolate sprinkles! Yummy!
Vanilla cup cakes with vanilla butter cream and pink sugar crystals. Again! Yummy!
I know there was so much more, but it's now getting very late and I'm to tired to continue! Just remember, "Every party has a pooper and I'm the pooper of the party!" (from Father of the Bride!) lol!
Later! I'll be seeing you around!
