This may offend, but I am sharing anyway.
Merry Christmas!
I love this time of year so much. It isn't the gifts people exchange, but because it brings family together to celebrate the birth of our Savior.
I want to share Him with you. I've known about Him since I was old enough to understand. Here is a very powerful poem I read in the eighth grade (a long time ago). Anyway, I have never forgotten it's message.
'Twas The Night Before Jesus Came'
written by Unknown Author
'Twas the night before Jesus came and all through the house
Not a
creature was praying, not one in the house.
Their Bibles were lain on the
shelf without care
In hopes that Jesus would not come there.
The children were dressing to crawl into bed.
Not once ever kneeling or
bowing a head.
And Mom in her rocker with baby on her lap
Was watching the
Late Show while I took a nap.
When out of the East there arose such a clatter.
I sprang to my feet to
see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open
the shutters and threw up the sash!
When what to my wondering eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming that
Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun sending forth a bright ray
I
knew in a moment this must be THE DAY!
The light of His face made me cover my head
It was Jesus! returning just
like He had said.
And though I possessed worldly wisdom and wealth,
I
cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.
In the Book of Life which He held in His hand
Was written the name of
every saved man.
He spoke not a word as He searched for my name;
When He
said "it's not here" my head hung in shame.
The people whose names had been written with love
He gathered to take to
His Father above.
With those who were ready He rose without a sound.
While
all the rest were left standing around.
I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long and thus
sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only
I had been ready tonight.
In the words of this poem the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is
drawing near.
There's only one life and when comes the last call
We'll
find that the Bible was true after all! (By the way, this poem is true, it will happen. Believe me, I'm not lying to you, I have better things to do.)
If you do not know Jesus as your Savior, you do not know what you are missing. It's the best gift of all, eternal life. It is only through Him will you ever obtain it. If you believe you must "work" in order have eternal life, then it is not a gift. The Bible says faith without works is dead, but if you have Jesus in your heart, not your head, you will desire to "do" these good works in His name. If you do not know how to recieve Jesus, it's as simple as your A, B, C's.
Admit your a sinner,
Believe in your heart Jesus died on the cross for you and he paid the price for your sin, and
Confess your sins to God the Father.
What Christmas means to my family. We have taught our children to know why Christmas is a celebration and why we exchange gifts in honor of his birth. After all, the wise men gave gifts to honor Jesus' birth. Can you name the three gifts? Most people do not realize the wise men did not show up the night Christ was born, but about two years later. Please understand we don't know the exact date of Christ's birth, but the Bible lets us know we are close. I pray those who read this blog today understand with out Christ, Christmas would be just another meaningless holiday.
I pray you find peace and joy this Christmas and be sure to share Him with your family and friends.
Merry Christmas!
